Hair Straightener Dabs
If you’re interested in making dabs from your flower, you may have considered using a hair straightener as a cheaper alternative to a professional rosin press. However, many people report that they are not getting as high a yield from their hair straightener as they would with a rosin press. In this article, we’ll show you how to get a better yield off a Nugsmasher than you can on a hair straightening iron.
For this comparison, we used about 0.8 grams of Jungle Cake from Nugsmasher grower, medicated 420 creations. We started with the hair straightener, set to 210 degrees, and pressed the flower for about 90 seconds. After pressing, we found that we only got a small amount of rosin from the hair straightener. We also noticed that some plant material had mixed in with the rosin, which is a common issue with hair straighteners.
Next, we used the Nugsmasher Mini to press 0.73 grams of the same Jungle Cake. We let it sit for about 90 seconds and collected the rosin, which came out much easier and cleaner than the rosin from the hair straightener. We were left with a much higher yield of rosin from the Nugsmasher Mini.
So, what’s the difference? One of the main issues with hair straighteners is that they tend to not be a consistent hold which pushes the flower, leaving behind more plant material in the rosin. The Nugsmasher, on the other hand, presses the flower without moving the puck, resulting in a cleaner and more efficient yield. Plus, the Nugsmasher is specifically designed for pressing rosin, so you can expect higher quality and better results.
On the other hand, rosin presses can produce higher yields, as they can apply more pressure and heat to the starting material. The yield will also depend on the quality and amount of starting material used, as well as the pressure and temperature settings of the rosin press.
In conclusion, if you want to get the most out of your flower when making dabs, we recommend investing in a Nugsmasher rosin press. While a hair straightener may seem like a cheaper option, you may end up spending more money in the long run due to lower yields and wasted flower. With a Nugsmasher, you can expect higher yields, cleaner rosin, and better overall quality.
