The Plates on your unit are made to be adjustable and may be adjusted at any time.

To start make sure unit is off and plates are cool, bring plates together tight . Unit can be adjusted by laying unit on its back and loosening the four ¼-20 stainless allen screws on the underside of unit. To complete this you will need a 5/32 hex tool. Don’t remove them just loosen. Then stand unit back up and drop plates to may 1/32 of gap between plates, you can then move the ram by gently pulling release handle towards you, also you can reach in through vertical handle opening to help move. Once bottom plate is directly centered over top plate and your rear spring plate is not touching frame you can raise plates and apply pressure to hold it in place while you lay unit on its back again and tighten the 4 bottom bolts. That should get your alignment perfect.
